The Prince Edward County Affordable Housing Corporation has appointed Chuck Dowdall as the corporation’s new executive director.
“Dowdall has held various senior management positions in the non-profit sector and brings to the organization considerable expertise in the development and sustainability of affordable housing in a community-based approach,” said Treat Hull, chair of the board of directors.
After spending more than 20 years in banking, Chuck transitioned into the development and maintenance of various community housing programs for more than a decade.
He worked with Kingston Literacy and Skills and served as treasurer of the Kingston Community Health Centre and was an advisor and consultant to private companies.
Dowdall holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree and MBA from Queen’s University.
The Prince Edward County Affordable Housing Corporation was established in 2018.
The mandate of the not-for-profit corporation is to increase the supply of affordable housing in Prince Edward County in cooperation with community stakeholders and developers.
The availability and affordability of housing has been called a “crisis” due to its effect on the local economy and long-term sustainability of the community and its social fabric.
Dowdall is set to begin the position July 6th, 2020.
